• More Creatures!

We’ve been catching more and more creatures on our critter cam this spring. This time we think we saw a skunk, and one of the pictures may have a fox visiting our bird bath for water. One night a deer showed up and “trimmed” Tracy’s bonsai plants! Still exciting, still a lot of cats around, and some bunnies as well.

  • Cat Cam

Since it is still the middle of winter in the North East, and there isn’t much to do outside, and all I’ve been up to is taking photos of hockey games, today I bring you more offerings from the critter camera. These are some of our best shots yet I’d say, as now we know for sure there are plenty of outdoor cats prowling the area.

  • Cat Closeups

A couple weeks ago I decided to buy my own “Nifty Fifty”, Canon’s 50mm f/1.8 lens that is highly regarded as one of the best values for its price. I had resisted purchasing this lens, as I didn’t do a lot of portrait photography, but decided to give it a shot after seeing some nice landscape photos, and reading about how well it does in low light situations. My test subjects were our cats, and so far I am really excited about the potential of this lens. The details in optimal situations are just spectacular. Here’s a few photos of Tigger and Monkey.

Its definitely going to take some time to get good with this lens, but the good news is that electrons are free, so I will be clicking away. I will be posting more photos of the cats soon in my flickr cat gallery.

  • Cat Crazyness

This fall Tracy noticed that some of the crabapples had been disappearing off of her bonsai tree. We found the culprit this weekend, and the kitties found him too.

  • Trips Far and Near

I had a little time this afternoon to play with some of the photos we have taken recently. I have some pictures to share from Tracy’s trip to Millinocket Maine to visit her grandparents, and from my trip to Letchworth State park to try and see some fall foliage (or foilage as Marge Simpson calls it). I was a bit late to see the best fall colors, but it was 65 degrees and sunny at the end of October, so I wasn’t complaining. Tracy took some really great panoramic photos from up in Maine. They are viewable in the panoramic photo gallery.

Now here is one of the neat panoramic photos Tracy took in Maine. Every winter Ambajejus Lake near Millinocket Maine has its water drained. If you look carefully at this photo, you can see Mount Khatadin in the background, bottles used as floats to protect boaters from submerged rocks, a green pickup truck on the beach, and the green “sea wall” that denotes the beach area. Also note the fantastic fall colors.
