Critter Cam

For Christmas this year I was able to pick up 2 refurbished “Game Cameras” at a very reasonable price. I gave one to my Mom and Dad and one to Tracy for Christmas. Cue the excitement as we wait and see what we can capture with the cameras. We stuck our camera outside at the beginning of February and aimed it at our bird feeders and birdbath water. We caught deer photos the second night the camera was out there. The night mode is pretty good. So far, the deer seem really interested in it, as we have captured a few pictures that appear to be the deer looking right at it or sniffing it. One photo even has one of the cat’s two eyes watching out the sliding glass door. Should provide fun for months to come. Here’s a few photos.

February Snow Storm

The “fun” wasn’t trying to get down to Florida, but back from Florida, when a giant snow storm crippled the east coast. I was able to get home but mom and dad had to stay in Florida one extra day. The difference? My flight left an hour and a half later than theirs. When we did make it back to Rochester we were greeted with over a foot of heavy wet snow that remained in the trees for a few days after. It made for fun photography, and quite a change from the 80 degree weather of Key Largo.

Hedge Trimmers

I snapped these photos of a helper we have for keeping the bushes at the back of our lot in check. There are actually 2 of these little guys, and their mom. We’ve seen them a few times this summer. One time the two young ones took turns running through the neighbors swing set. They were dodging back and forth through the swings. Most of the bushes in back are nothing special, but we keep an eye on our lilac bushes, they’ve been fine so far. I really like the stripe down its neck.
